About the Samurai: 

Okada Izo was a notorious samurai during the late Edo Period, and a very well known assassin during the Bakumatsu Period. He was involved in many assassinations, such as the death of Homma Seichiiro. He was responsible for many other assassinations before he was captured, tortured and killed by the government.
