Inspired by Akechi Mitsuhide
Akechi Mitsuhide (1528–1582) was a prominent samurai and military commander during Japan's Sengoku period. He is best known for his role in the turbulent political and military history of late 16th-century Japan and remains one of the era's most recognizable historical figures.
This Minosaka iaito draws inspiration from Mitsuhide's place in Japanese samurai history. Its unique winding detail gives the design a distinctive character while maintaining the traditional appearance of a Japanese sword.
Minosaka Japanese Sword Craftsmanship
Minosaka was established in 1919 in Japan's historic Mino region, an area with a long history of traditional sword production. Building on this heritage, Minosaka specializes in iaito for Japanese martial arts as well as other forms of traditional Japanese sword craftsmanship.
Each iaito is carefully produced in Japan with attention to its construction, appearance, balance, and handling characteristics. The result is a practice sword that combines traditional Japanese sword aesthetics with the requirements of modern Iaido practitioners.
Designed for Iaido
An iaito is a Japanese practice sword designed specifically for training in Iaido, the martial art centered around the controlled drawing, handling, and resheathing of the sword.
This model uses a reinforced hard-alloy blade and is intended for Iaido practice and martial arts training. Its construction provides the appropriate characteristics for controlled practice without the use of a sharpened cutting edge.
Important: This is a practice sword, but the hard-alloy blade can still cause injury. Do not use it to strike people or objects. Do not disassemble, modify, or adjust the sword yourself. Because this is a handmade product incorporating natural wood, individual swords may vary slightly in size and weight.
