Inspired by the Yagyu tradition of Japanese swordsmanship, the Yagyu Renyasai DX Deluxe Iaito is a Japanese-made practice sword featuring a design associated with Swordsmith Ouminodaijo. With an ultra-hard, lightweight alloy blade and compact traditional proportions, this iaito is designed for controlled Iaido practice while maintaining the refined appearance of a classical Japanese sword.
The Yagyu family were a prominent daimyo family based near Nara and became closely associated with Yagyu Shinkage-ryu, one of Japan's renowned schools of swordsmanship. Yagyu Renyasai, the fifth Soke of the Owari Yagyu tradition, was known as both a gifted swordsman and scholar. Renyasai and his father adapted aspects of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu to reflect changes in samurai swordsmanship as combat increasingly moved away from battlefield armor and toward encounters in civilian clothing.
This DX model combines that historical inspiration with a lightweight alloy construction suitable for Iaido training and display.

Traditional Japanese Swordsmanship
The Yagyu family played an important role in the history of Japanese swordsmanship and became closely associated with Yagyu Shinkage-ryu. Based near Nara, the family became prominent daimyo while maintaining a strong connection to martial arts and swordsmanship.
Yagyu Renyasai, the fifth Soke of the Owari Yagyu tradition, was renowned as a talented swordsman and scholar. Together with his father, he helped adapt the teachings of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu to the changing nature of samurai combat, as swordsmanship increasingly focused on encounters outside the battlefield.
The Yagyu Renyasai DX Iaito draws inspiration from this important tradition while incorporating an ultra-hard, lightweight alloy blade for modern practice.
Designed for Iaido
Iaido is a Japanese martial art centered on the controlled drawing, handling, and sheathing of the sword. Training emphasizes precision, posture, timing, concentration, and controlled movement.
The Yagyu Renyasai DX Deluxe Iaito features a lightweight alloy blade and compact dimensions designed for controlled Iaido practice. The blade does not actually cut, making this sword intended for practice and display rather than cutting.
The sword cannot be disassembled or adjusted. Due to the use of natural wood and manual production processes, minor variations in size, weight, and finish may occur.
