About Ii Naomasa

Ii Naomasa (1561–1602) was a renowned samurai commander who served Tokugawa Ieyasu during the turbulent final years of Japan's Sengoku period. After surviving the political turmoil surrounding his family, Naomasa entered Tokugawa service and quickly rose through the ranks because of his military ability and leadership.

Naomasa became one of Ieyasu's most trusted commanders and was known for leading highly disciplined troops into battle. His soldiers famously wore distinctive red armor and equipment, earning them the fearsome nickname “Red Devils.”
